Carve It, Print It, Repeat It
Discover the fun of creating your own printed fabrics! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to design, carve, ink, and print your own blocks with confidence. Using simple, affordable tools and soft rubber blocks that carve easily, you’ll build skills that last a lifetime. You’ll work with high-quality, water-based textile pigments that become permanent after heat setting, and by the end of the class, you’ll have a collection of your hand-carved blocks, printed fabrics, and detailed instructions to continue printing at home.
This workshop is centered around printing repeat patterns on yardage. You’ll use your carved block to create a repeat across larger pieces of fabric, exploring how the edges of your block can serve as a self-registering guide for continuous printing. Jeanne will guide you in honoring the natural edges of your block, embracing the authentic, hand-crafted look of block-printed fabric. No prior experience is necessary.

Seasonal Pattern Play – Block Carving & Printing on Fabric
Explore the art of relief block carving and pattern printing on fabric. Carve linoleum blocks safely, fearlessly, and successfully. See seasonal designs emerge as you print an array of colorful 1- and 2-color designs. Carve with a basic set of inexpensive tools and print on fabrics using high quality water-based textile pigments made permanent once heat set. Take home your hand-carved blocks, hand-printed fabrics, and printing skills for a future of printing and gift giving!
Creative Approaches to Surface Design on Fabric
A 4-day workshop on learning and exploring a wide variety of surface techniques that include screen printing, stencil & mono printing, drawing, resist techniques and color overlays.

I welcome individuals and 2-person groups to my studio for a 2-day block carving workshop. My studio is compact but fully equipped.
Immerse yourself in learning to fearlessly create designs for pattern printing on fabric, safely and successfully carve blocks, and see the pattern emerge as you register print your blocks.

Fees/$200 per day, per person, plus materials. Lunch included.
